Protect Religious Freedom and Freedom of Expression in Canada — Review Bill C-9 Carefully

Protect Religious Freedom and Freedom of Expression in Canada — Review Bill C-9 Carefully
The Issue
We, the undersigned Canadians and supporters of constitutional freedoms, respectfully call upon the Senate of Canada and federal leaders to carefully review Bill C-9 to ensure it does not unintentionally weaken freedom of religion, freedom of conscience, or freedom of expression.
We firmly oppose hatred, violence, threats, harassment, and mistreatment of any person or group. At the same time, we believe Canada must preserve the freedoms protected under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Many Canadians, including pastors, churches, faith leaders, parents, educators, and civil liberties advocates, are concerned that portions of Bill C-9 could create uncertainty surrounding lawful religious expression and peaceful public discussion.
We are asking Canadian leaders to:
• protect Charter freedoms;
• preserve protections for good-faith religious expression;
• clearly distinguish between genuine hate propaganda and peaceful biblical or moral convictions;
• consult broadly with faith communities and constitutional experts before advancing legislation that may affect fundamental freedoms.
This petition is not about promoting hatred or discrimination. It is about protecting both public safety and the constitutional freedoms that Canadians value deeply.
Canada must remain a nation where people can respectfully disagree while still preserving dignity, peace, and freedom for all.
Please sign and respectfully share this petition.
