The Issue

Quincy Public Library is a crucial part of a thriving Quincy! It serves as a learning haven, hosting job search assistance, providing free information on topics ranging from taxes to technology, and offering invaluable after-school programs for community children. But more than these, it has been a beacon of hope for those who don't have the luxury of purchasing educational resources. The public library provides free WiFi – a service that many of us take for granted, and a lifeline for those without it at home. It opens up access to a wide world of knowledge with thousands of books, movies, and music readily available for everyone. It is imperative to protect access to these services for everyone in our community by ensuring Quincy Public Library is protected from funding cuts.

Libraries across the U.S. are facing an ongoing threat of budget reductions. Many libraries reported flat or decreasing budgets in recent years; yet, these institutions continued to see an increase in community usage, leading to strain on their resources and underscoring the vital role they play in our communities. This scenario is could happen in Quincy – our library, the heart of our community, under threat.

Any proposed cuts would put Quincy Public Library's functions and invaluable services at risk and potentially lead to staff reductions. This means that job-seeking resources could dwindle, free access to vital information could wane, and the safe, structured environment that our children deserve after-school and during the upcoming summer could dissolve. Not to mention the limitation of access to books, movies, music, and the internet - the portals to knowledge and learning for all walks of life.

Join us, support Quincy Public Library by coming together to oppose funding cuts. Choosing to protect the Quincy Public Library is to choose knowledge, hope, and community. Don’t let this gem be dimmed by budgetary shortfalls. Sign this petition to help protect our library!
