We are a group of concerned citizens who want to protect our children from tent encampments in Point Pleasant Park where preschools, schools, camps and families bring young, vulnerable children to play everyday.

Halifax councilors have approved a list of parks for newly designated homeless encampments, which includes Point Pleasant Park. They did so without any public consultation.



The city of Halifax wants to send the homeless encampments out of sight to Point Pleasant Park without acknowledging or considering the huge effect it will have on the city’s children and local community. 
This must not be allowed to happen. 


Encampments for the unhoused are a safety risk as well as a fire hazard. Allowing this in the middle of a dense, wooded and heavily trafficked public area is reckless and puts children and citizens at risk. 


Please do not allow Point Pleasant Park to turn into the East End of Vancouver. Halifax can do so much better.
