We’re asking the Algonquin Students’ Association to reconsider the decision to cut both the Men’s and Women’s Rugby teams starting Fall 2026.

Rugby at Algonquin isn’t just another sport. For many of us, it’s been a huge part of our college experience. It’s where we’ve built friendships, stayed motivated in school, and had something to be proud of representing. Since 2011, the program has created a strong community that extends beyond current players to alumni, coaches, and supporters.

Cutting the program takes away more than just a team. It removes opportunities for students to stay active, be involved on campus, and feel connected to something bigger than themselves. It also impacts future students who would have chosen Algonquin for the chance to play and be part of this community.

We understand there are financial challenges, but completely removing the program feels like a major step when other options could be explored. We are asking that alternatives such as fundraising, sponsorships, and budget adjustments be considered before making a final decision.

Wolves Rugby has always shown commitment, pride, and heart for this school. We’re asking the school to show that same commitment in return.
