Protect our pets at boarding facilities!

Protect our pets at boarding facilities!
The Issue
Hi everyone,
My name is Joe Davey, and I’m raising awareness for a cause that means a great deal to me—and to countless others who have trusted boarding facilities with their beloved companions. My own experience with Zuri Pet Spa in San Juan Capistrano, California, turned into a devastating nightmare when my dog, Zero “Bunny,” was paralyzed while under their care. The facility took no responsibility for their negligence and, even worse, failed to seek immediate medical attention, endangering his life.
I’m incredibly fortunate to have the means to support Zero’s long road to recovery and to give him the best life possible despite his condition. But many pet owners aren’t as lucky. For too many families, the financial burden that follows such incidents can force heartbreaking choices that no one should ever have to make.
This is not an isolated incident. Current regulations for animal boarding facilities in California are insufficient, leaving too much room for neglect and abuse. Reports from animal welfare organizations show that cases of mistreatment, injury, and even death occur far too often across the nation. This must change.
We are calling for comprehensive reform and stronger oversight of animal boarding facilities. These changes must include regular, unannounced inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety standards, mandatory staff training in animal welfare and emergency care, transparent public records detailing a facility’s safety history, and strict licensing requirements tied to proven standards of care and accountability.
Your signature can help push state and local leaders to act. Together, we can ensure that every pet entrusted to a boarding facility receives the care, safety, and respect they deserve.
Zero’s story is tragic, but it can inspire lasting change. Let’s make sure no other family endures the pain that ours did. Please sign and share this petition to demand tighter regulations and real accountability for animal boarding facilities. Thank you for standing up for the voiceless and helping protect our companions.
Together, we can make a difference.
