Protect Our Homes from Unfair Seizure and Redevelopment, YOUR HOME CAN BE NEXT!
The Issue
My family has run the Quick Tire Shop at 509 Smith Street in PERTH AMBOY for over 30 years, and it's more than just a business to us; it's our legacy. Our neighboring families at the 4-unit multifamily home, 505-507 Smith Street, have built lives here for over a decade. But now, our homes and livelihoods are under threat from an unfair and alarming city policy. As part of a new development strategy, over 1,000 homes in our community that don't meet setback zoning regulations can and will be marked as condemned and 'blighted' and used for redevelopment purposes. This includes our properties, which are being marked for demolition to make room for a 470,000 sq. ft. warehouse project.
What's worse, this blight designation allows the city to use eminent domain to take OUR PROPERTIES for the city's lowball value. The City should have to pay constitutional JUST compensation, but that's after seizure and relocation of our homes and businesses. They are NOT doing this and their boards are closing their eyes on our constitutional rights.
This ploy only benefits a select few — like the mayor's friends...a few developers with deep pockets.
Understand, our homes and businesses are not blighted. They don't deserve to be condemned. This practice is simply a manipulative tactic in PERTH AMBOY, NJ to strip us of our property rights, our homes, and our businesses. It's time we took a stand against these destructive and unjust policies. Please, sign our petition today and help us protect our homes, our community, and our rights as property owners. Together, we can fight for a fair and just solution.

Can you imagine your $500,000 home be labeled condemned when it is NOT and you are told they'll pay you $100,000 and get out? Imagine 4 families that have raised their children there, are being kicked out and the owners of the home won't even get FMV of their property, DONE WITH MALICE, so that the developer can get these properties for FREE or at $100,000?
This can be YOU! They said it in the meeting, and agreed 1000 homes JUST LIKE OURS, are at jeopardy but currently, we are in their WAY. This is FRAUD, please sign to not allow our corrupt politicians and their boards take away your family legacies.
