We call on our government to immediately stop the reckless logging and road construction plans that threaten our nation's federal forests. Last Saturday, an executive order bypassed essential environmental protections to ramp up timber extraction in areas that are not only breathtakingly beautiful, but completely vital to our survival.

These forests provide us with clean drinking water, shelter countless species, and act as nature’s safeguard against wildfires. By clearcutting these ancient, fire-resistant trees, we are endangering over 400 protected species and putting millions of Americans’ water supply at risk due to increased soil erosion and sediment runoff.

Randi Spivak, public lands policy director, told Animal World News, "Trump’s order will unleash the chainsaws and bulldozers on our beautiful, irreplaceable federal forests...Clearcutting these amazing national treasures will increase fire risk, drive imperiled wildlife to extinction, pollute our rivers and streams, and destroy world-class recreation sites.”

This is not just a policy decision—sacrificing these resources for short-term profit is an assault on our natural heritage and a betrayal of our future.
