The Issue

They were never silenced- but, they were also never heard.

The defendant, Neil Severson is currently charged with the following offenses stemming from conduct on or about April 24, 2026:

Count 1: Aggravated Domestic Battery/Strangle – Class 2 Felony
Count 2: Aggravated Domestic Battery/Strangle – Class 2 Felony
Count 3: Domestic Battery/Other Prior – Class 4 Felony
Count 4: Domestic Battery/Contact/1-2 Prior Convictions – Class 4 Felony
Count 5: Domestic Battery/Bodily Harm– Class A Misdemeanor
Count 6: Domestic Battery/Physical Contact – Class A Misdemeanor

These charges reflect a pattern of serious and escalating violence. Our children are paying the price mentally, and physically.

The alleged violence took place on his on 11-year-old- son, Bradlee Severson in front of his 7-year-old- son, Asher Severson. During court ordered visitation.

The safety of our children must come first. This petition is a call to protect not only the victims directly involved, but also the many children living in the same neighborhood where these alleged acts of violence occurred.
By signing this petition we urge the State’s Attorney to argue strongly against the possibility of house arrest for this accused individual within our community. Instead, we ask for alternative arrangements that can protect our children, and neighbors to resume a peace that should be present.

Join us in taking a stand for a safe environment for our children, and community by signing this petition. Your support can make a difference ensuring our neighborhoods remain safe. Stand with the children of Coal City.
