We are all horrified by the sheer amount of mass shootings. Something should have been done by now, but alas our incompetent leaders have been unable to perform the simplest task of protecting our children, while forcing our children to go to school, from people who many times have already been identified by the FBI. 

With this being said, it is also important to simultaneously respect the constitution and the bill of rights. It is no secret that where there are armed security, mass shootings tend to not happen. If you don't believe it, try going to the white house, armed, and see how far you make it. The fact that we protect our politicians like they are some sort of demigods, but allow our children to get killed at the hands of a mentally unstable human who should have been institutionalized long ago, needs to be a thing of the past. 

It is for all of these reasons that I petition the government to mandate that all schools be protected with armed guards, that are highly trained on the use of a firearm. Police officers, both retired and active, as well as veterans, both retired and active, would be more than happy to fulfill this role in protecting our children.
