Thank you for helping to prevent the construction of a 7 acre Rutters truck stop next to and uphill from the valuable mitigation wetland, Old Crow, in Huntingdon.  Can you write a 3-line email to PA - DEPto request a public hearing on this case?

DEP is reviewing Rutters' application for a General Permit. We need DEP to require Rutters to get an Individual Permit, which asks more of the applicant.

Please write a very brief email or letter to DEP to request a public hearing. We need a hearing because there are problems and deficiencies in Rutters' application which mean that their case should require an Individual Permit. On their application Rutters has predicted no contamination of the wetland, which isn't necessarily true, so they should have to get an Individual Permit. Also, Rutters gas stations have had fuel tank leaks recently which we should also bring to DEP's attention. For now, we're focused on requesting a hearing.

DEP is only looking at Rutters' plan for stormwater management (the PCSM plan) so don't mention issues unrelated to water or the environment, like traffic or not wanting a truck stop, etc. If you want to tell DEP of your environmental concerns in more detail, put that in a separate letter. 

A written request for a public hearing must include the requestor’s name, address, telephone number, and the rationale for the request.  

Email both Scott Williamson (Manager of Waterways and Wetlands Program) scwilliams@pa.gov and Nathan Phillips (Permits section of Waterways and Wetlands Program) natphillip@pa.gov and copy the Huntingdon County Conservation District at manager@huntingdonconservation.org

Write a subject line like "Request for a public hearing on the proposed Rutter's store in Smithfield township, Huntingdon." Don't forget to include your name, address, phone number, and rationale for requesting a public hearing.
