December 2025
Ngāti Ngamurikaitaua completed an Assessment of Environmental and Cultural Effects concerning the proposed Southern Wastewater Treatment Plant and provided the assessment to IAWAI before appearing at its Board meeting on 18 December 2025.

June 2026
IAWAI subsequently confirmed 131 and 139 Raynes Road, Rukuhia as its preferred location for the Southern Wastewater Treatment Plant and confirmed its intention to pursue the fast-track referral pathway.

September 2026
Protect Nukuhau and Ngāti Ngamurikaitaua have continued documenting concerns relating to Nukuhau Pā, cultural and environmental effects, independent representation, engagement and alternative options.

On 29 September 2026, Protect Nukuhau issued a new Open Letter concerning the Southern Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Ngāti Ngamurikaitaua's position remains independent of the Kaitiaki Roopuu and community organisations participating elsewhere in the project. Our records, cultural assessments, pānui and formal correspondence are being maintained through the Kaitaua Framework.
