Merry Christmas whanau and te hapori whanui
We hope everyone's enjoying their Christmas and summer holidays, and with the New Year just a couple days away, please make sure you're driving safely; the roads have become very dangerous at this time, and pray you're all taking care of yourselves and looking out for your loved ones.
We also want to acknowledge and pray for the Palestinians and their resistance against the military occupation in their country. It is devastating to see, especially during Christmas, a repeat of the history about Jesus and a history very similar to ours here in Aotearoa NZ.
General update
We managed to make it to the last meeting for IAWAI this month and tabled Ngati Ngamurikaitaua Tangata Whenua cultural and environmental assessment for the Southern Wastewater Treatment Plant. The assessment took at least a month to complete, but that's what happens when those that were meant to support and consult with you jumped on the wrong side of the fence, revealed their hands, and were exposed.
Engari, the assessment was completed just on time to receive a call to speak at IAWAI on December 18th. Funny enough, we were the only speakers from the public on the day and are glad and thankful the directors took the time out to read our document.
Although we made it to IAWAI and brought forth evidence. We've sent the message loud and clear that they need to find another location, and Tangata whenua have given them an alternative, one that they knew of prior to HCC purchasing 131 Raynes Road. We can't force them to hear a message they're not ready for, but never underestimate the power of planting a seed.
No reira Thank you everyone for your support and signing our petition. The parliamentary petition is still online; go check it out, sign, and share.
