To all Supporters of the Community Spaces Petition (P003110),

We have a massive and historic update to share!

The petition you supported—originally launched after the closure of the No Limits Community Café & Hub—has been formally noted in Parliament and has directly contributed to the introduction of a new law that will protect community assets nationwide.

The Verifiable Success (Hansard Record)

September 11, 2025: Our petition, initiated by Anna Todd, was formally presented to the House of Commons, citing the vital role community hubs play for disabled and neurodivergent people in Newton Abbot.

November 3, 2025: The Government issued its official Observations in response to our petition, acknowledging the crucial role of spaces like the No Limits Hub.

The New Law: Right of First Refusal

Crucially, the Government's response explicitly stated that they are "going further than ever to empower communities to protect community assets" with the introduction of a:

New Right to Buy Assets of Community Value through the English Devolution and Community Empowerment Bill.

This new rule, which is now expected to become law in mid-2026, will give local communities a Right of First Refusal on the sale of cherished buildings, ensuring they can be used for public benefit rather than being lost to commercial development.

This means our petition, with far less than 10,000 signatures, has helped achieve a national legislative change!

Thank you for your signature and support. This victory is proof that local initiative can achieve massive national change.
