Mickleham is one of Victoria's fastest-growing communities, with a population that has grown from just over 3,000 residents in 2016 to more than 26,000 today and is projected to exceed 60,000 in the coming decades. At the same time, the area has experienced significant residential, industrial and commercial growth, increased traffic congestion, and ongoing grassfire risk due to the urban-rural interface.

Currently, Mickleham relies on neighbouring fire brigades to respond to emergencies, despite growing demand and increasing response challenges caused by traffic congestion and distance. A dedicated Mickleham Fire Brigade would provide faster emergency response times, strengthen protection for homes, schools, businesses and critical infrastructure, improve grassfire response capability, and ensure emergency services keep pace with the needs of our rapidly expanding community.
