Hi Good People,
Hope you are all well. Since our last update we have continued to work towards our goal of protecting the tranquility and wild beauty of the Loch Tay Area. As best we can, we monitor the activities of Discovery Land Company and hold them to account. In March 2024, DLC withdrew their outrageous application to build a 9m tall chemical storage and golf vehicle maintenance facility within metres of the Kenmore village community and the Upper River Tay, on land earmarked for affordable housing. (You couldn't make this stuff up..). The withdrawal of their application was the result of the 60 or so objections lodged on the Perth & Kinross Planning Portal and over 2000 people across Scotland signing an e-action against their plans by Mark Ruskell MSP.
People Power makes a difference.
A couple of weeks ago 50 members of Protect Loch Tay group met at the Taymouth Estate for a spring ramble and picnic, exercising our Scottish Right to Roam on the open access route along the South border of the estate. The widespread and extensive building projects now underway over the entire estate make it very clear that DLC are working from a master plan. In October of 2023, DLC stated that they were in the "dreaming phase" when asked for a master plan..That phase is over. It is reasonable to expect them to now share their MP, thereby necessitating a thorough environmental assessment of their intended resort. It's time.
With this in mind, I again ask you to please share our petition far and wide and help us protect this beautiful part of Scotland from thoughtless profiteers, and their over development of this wonderful land.
Help us protect our environment and all the beautiful flora and fauna that live here amongst us. We can’t give up and must persevere until meaningful protections have been put in place. For up to date info please join our Facebook Group ‘Protect Loch Tay’.
Thank you all again for your continued support, it matters and makes a difference.
