Protect Little Cyclone Time (LCT) for student well-being
The Issue
LCT (Little Cyclone Time), which is basically like WIN or a seminar where students can get help, catch up on work, or meet with teachers, is planned to be removed from the daily schedule and only happen on Mondays.
This change is mainly because of attendance issues. A lot of students were marked absent during LCT since Flexisched isn’t synced with Infinite Campus, so it’s been hard for the school to track where students actually are. They tried to fix this earlier in the year, but it didn’t work.
The new schedule would also include 90-minute classes (like 8:30–10:00, 10:10–11:40, and 2:05–3:35), with short passing periods and two lunch options: A lunch (11:40–12:15) and B lunch (1:20–1:55).
This especially impacts students with B lunch, since it’s much later in the day. For students involved in sports or other after-school commitments, this can mean going most of the school day without eating unless they bring extra food, which isn’t always realistic. With 90-minute class periods, students also need steady fuel and energy throughout the day to stay focused and actually do their best in class, so when lunch happens matters a lot more than it seems.
Even though fixing attendance is important, getting rid of LCT also takes away time during the school day for extra help and getting work done. This petition is about finding a better balance, one that solves attendance issues but still supports students. Removing LCT would take away a really important support time for the many students who rely on it to stay on track, get help from teachers, and manage their workload.
