I have called Liberty County, Florida, home for many years. Nestled amidst the tranquility of one of our country's beautiful national forests, with the Apalachicola and Ochlockonee rivers carving serene paths through the land, and Lake Mystic lending its picturesque charm, Liberty County is a place that treasures its connection with nature. Our community is bound by a mutual love for this land, and together, we cherish its unspoiled air and pristine waters.

However, the peace of our county is now at risk. There are plans to establish AI data centers within our community. While technological advancement is important, this proposed development threatens the very essence of what makes Liberty County unique. The introduction of AI data centers brings with it potential hazards to our environment, including the risk of pollution and degradation of our precious water resources. Data centers are notorious for their high water usage, which could strain our local water supply, and harmful emissions that could poison the air we breathe. Moreover, the constant noise pollution from these centers would shatter the serenity that defines our home.

Liberty County deserves a future where both progress and preservation coexist. Therefore, we propose not to entirely shut out modern advancements but to seek more sustainable options that can harmoniously integrate with our environment and the well-being of our community. We propose the county commissioners carefully evaluate alternative locations that would not pose a threat to our natural and community resources. Furthermore, they should conduct thorough environmental impact assessments and consider community feedback before proceeding with any development.

We have seen other communities, such as Oregon's Umatilla County, successfully limit data center developments by imposing regulations that protect local resources. We can adopt similar measures, ensuring that any technological developments benefit our community without compromising our treasured ecosystem.
