The Issue

Support Keeping La'Caj Open and Thriving in Prince George's County

For more than a decade, entrepreneur Monique Rose and her businesses have invested in Prince George's County by creating jobs, supporting local vendors, mentoring entrepreneurs, and building spaces where the community can gather. She also created a Latin and Cajun fusion restaurant named La'Caj Seafood that is licensed to local business owners Tanetta Merritt and Dennis Green who own Burgers @ Apollo.

Today, La'Caj Seafood Restaurant at Restaurant Row in Camp Springs is facing efforts that could jeopardize its future despite operating with the appropriate licenses and serving as a positive contributor to the community. La'Caj is proud to serve residents of Prince George's County Council District 8 and the broader Camp Springs community.

La'Caj has become more than a restaurant. It has become a destination where families, friends, neighbors, professionals, and visitors come together to enjoy great food, culture, music, and fellowship.

We, the undersigned, respectfully support La'Caj remaining open and continuing to operate in Prince George's County.

We believe:

• Small businesses deserve fair treatment and due process.

• Businesses that create jobs and invest in the community should be supported.

• Community gathering, when conducted lawfully and responsibly, is something to be encouraged.

• Prince George's County benefits from diverse dining, entertainment, and cultural experiences.

• La'Caj has contributed positively to the economic and social vitality of Restaurant Row and the surrounding community.

By signing this petition, we are expressing our support for La'Caj, its employees, its ownership and management team, and the many community members who enjoy and benefit from its presence.

We respectfully ask that all parties work toward solutions that allow La'Caj to continue serving the community while maintaining a fair and reasonable environment for everyone involved. This petition is not about attacking any individual or organization. It is about showing support for a local business, its employees, and the community members who value its presence in Prince George's County.

Thank you for supporting local business, local jobs, and community.
