The Issue

This week, two former Meta researchers gave chilling testimony before Congress: children are being sexually harassed, abused, bullied, and groomed inside Meta’s virtual reality (VR) platforms—and the company knew.

One whistleblower testified that kids were being exposed to pedophiles, pornography, strip clubs, and sexually charged interactions with strangers—all while using Meta’s VR headsets. They say Meta executives blocked internal research, buried safety concerns, and even ordered data to be erased.

If true, this is not just negligence. It is complicity.

These aren’t anonymous headlines. These are real kids being targeted by predators in digital spaces Meta controls, while the company allegedly looked away—or worse, covered it up.

We, the undersigned, demand immediate action:

  • A full federal investigation into Meta’s VR platforms by the Department of Justice and Federal Trade Commission
  • Congressional hearings with subpoena power to uncover what Meta knew and when they knew it
  • Immediate enforcement from the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)
  • Criminal liability if it’s proven that executives knowingly buried evidence of child sexual exploitation
  • A pause on all child access to Meta VR until safety controls are proven, enforced, and independently verified.

Big Tech cannot be allowed to profit from platforms where children are abused and whistleblowers are silenced. If the allegations are true, Meta is not failing to protect children—it is actively endangering them.

This is not about politics. This is about children. And it’s about a company too powerful to be left unchecked.
