Protect Innocent Animals. Stop the Whittlesea Rodeo & A breach of a Local Law
The issue
I am humbly creating this petition, driven by a deep bond I've formed with animals – be it sheep, cows, calves, or horses. Each of these creatures, whom I hold dear to my heart, has its own unique personality. They feel, think, breathe, and fear just like we humans do. It pains my heart to think of the similar, innocent animals subjected to abject fear and pain at the Whittlesea Rodeo for mere human entertainment.
The rodeo, while may be viewed by some as a traditional form of amusement, has a grim underside. Each year, animals involved in rodeos across the globe suffer from injuries and are subjected to extreme stress and fear. According to a research paper published by the Animal Welfare Information Center (AWIC), an estimated 27% of animals participating in rodeos experience injuries.
Not just physical, the emotional stress an animal experiences at rodeos can be significantly detrimental. They are provoked into wild behaviors, which may incite excitement in an audience, but in reality, is a manifestation of their fear and anxiety.
It is time to cancel the upcoming Whittlesea Rodeo, and it's time to pass stronger animal rights laws that protect these voiceless, sensitive beings from such exploitation.
Join me in this urgent effort to re-define tradition and entertainment without causing harm or distress to animals. Please sign this petition urging authorities to put a stop to the Whittlesea Rodeo. Together, we can be the voice for these innocent animals and pave the way for more humane forms of entertainment.
This horror show is due to take place on council land, which is in breach of Whittlesea’s Local Law Part 8, Section 8.1, stating that no human or animal will be harmed in anyway on council land.
