As a concerned parent of college-going children, I am deeply troubled by the increasing incidents of violence against Indian students on college campuses in Indiana, Ohio, Illinois and Georgia. My kids are youth and this issue is very personal to me. It's not just about my children but about all the young Indians who come to these states with dreams of a brighter future.

According to a report by organizations, there has been an alarming rise in hate crimes against South Asians in recent years. This includes numerous incidents where innocent students have been targeted simply because of their ethnicity or nationality.

We cannot stand by as our children live in fear for their safety. We must demand that colleges and universities take stronger measures to protect all students from hate crimes and violence. This includes implementing stricter security protocols, providing cultural sensitivity training for staff and students, and ensuring that those responsible for such heinous acts are held accountable.
