The Issue

I've seen too many innocent cats suffer in our neighborhood along Major Avenue and Belden Street. It breaks my heart knowing that these gentle creatures, who are just trying to survive, are not only homeless but also facing deadly threats. Recently, I heard troubling reports about a "night stalker" who seems to be deliberately harming these cats under the cover of darkness. This same individual has caused distress to my neighbor, who shared the unfortunate expense of constantly having to fix their car due to suspected vandalism at night.

It’s clear that our community is in danger, and this has become a much bigger issue than initially thought. Homeless cats are getting killed, and property is being damaged. Why should any living being have to live in fear, whether they have a heartbeat or four wheels? We need to take urgent action to stop this threat and protect our community, both human and feline.

Across many cities, successful partnerships have been formed between animal control and community groups to shelter and feed homeless animals. With collaborative efforts, we can implement a watch program and increase patrols in our neighborhood to discourage any harmful activities at night. Security cameras and better street lighting can also serve as deterrents, offering an extra layer of protection against vandalism and cruelty.

We must address this urgent issue to ensure the safety of all residents, two-legged and four-legged alike. Our community can become a safer place with a collective push towards humane solutions and stronger neighborhood solidarity.

Signing this petition is an important step towards securing a peaceful environment in our beloved community, and preserving the lives of innocent animals who depend on us. Please sign this petition and urge local law enforcement and city officials to take immediate and effective action.
