FYI the Shape Your City feedback form is still open until April 1, so if you haven't as yet sent in a comment you still have time. The more comments they receive the better
A design professional and architecture teacher sent me an adjusted version of the Maritime Museum's diagram in their rezoning application (pictured above) showing how the barge size has been misrepresented.
He wrote "the HAVN rezoning applicant has underrepresented the barge size in the application. The barge's true length in this position (represented by the scaled yellow line) would create a problem for traffic pushed eastward onto the sandbar. Boats in the harbour require a minimum of 7' of water for safe navigation, yet the application makes no reference to the sandbar location and depth, dredging, Transport Canada and navigation impacts, dredging costs and responsibility, environmental impacts from dredging, or risks to swimmers and paddlers from Teatotaller Family Beach who will be pushed into the navigable channel by the barge. False Creek Ferries frequently run aground in this area at low tide. This error would cause significant future risks to safety, navigation and costs."
He also prepared before and after images of views of the barge spa from different points on shore.
