Protect Henry’s right to play in Pacific Spirit Park

Protect Henry’s right to play in Pacific Spirit Park
The Issue
Metro Vancouver is considering a proposal banning off-leash dogs from the largest portion of Pacific Spirit Park. The park south of 16th Avenue currently has a mix of on-leash and off-leash trails to accommodate the needs of a variety of users.
The off-leash trails are heavily used by dogs and their owners. Our dogs need a place to run which is essential to their health and well-being.
The proposed change is an overreaction to an incident where a person was injured by being knocked over by a dog. We are very sorry for her injury but there are already rules in place requiring owners to control dogs. Metro Vancouver has indicated that it has not yet made a definitive decision regarding these changes but is considering them in response to complaints received. Let's make sure that their decision is based on the input of all park users, including the vast majority who value their park experience and access to off-leash trails.
Support our continued access to the off-leash trails in the south portion of Pacific Spirit Park.
Please consider contacting Metro Vancouver directly at icentre@metrovancouver.org
