Protect giraffes from extinction

Protect giraffes from extinction
The Issue
The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service just said that it a law protecting giraffes may be needed to protect the species from going extinct and are considering doing so. If giraffes are added to the extinct/threatened species list, it would mean that federal protections against international hunting would likely be implemented.
Giraffe population has severely declined over the past few decades, and are now considered “vulnerable” by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. Giraffe population has declined by nearly 40%.
There are fewer than 100,000 giraffes left.
Giraffes are under threat from both legal and illegal hunting and loss of habitat. These are all human issues, and we need rectify the situation and fight for giraffes. Moreover, the U.S. specifically plays a significant role in the threat to the species.
While there are no giraffes in the U.S., the U.S. imports more than one giraffe trophy a day and tens of thousands of giraffe parts are sold domestically each year.
Various wildlife groups petition the federal government in April 2017 to include giraffes as at least a threatened species — and they had to sue the Trump administration to respond.
Giraffes need to be protected by law. Urge the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service to protect them.
