The Issue

I am an animal advocate deeply concerned about the future of wildlife in Florida. The rampant construction of apartment buildings and complexes is devastating our precious wildlife conservations, stripping animals of their natural habitats, and forcing them into dangerous urban environments. Our beloved forests, which serve as homes for countless species, are being mercilessly cut down, driving animals to wander into highways, streets, and even beaches in desperate search of refuge.

Wildlife has a purpose; their lives are as valuable as human lives. Yet, our actions are taking their homes away. In the hustle of urban development, we often overlook the silent victims—animals that can no longer survive in their rapidly shrinking habitats. It's heartbreaking to see bears, deer, and other wildlife risk their lives by entering human-populated areas in search of food and shelter.

Deforestation and habitat destruction not only endanger wildlife but also disrupt ecological balance, which eventually affects us all. According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the state has lost over a million acres of forest land to development in the past decade alone. This unsustainable path must be challenged and changed, for our sake and theirs.

Our city has the potential to develop sustainably without sacrificing its natural beauty and wildlife. We can take steps to ensure new developments incorporate green spaces, conservation easements, and wildlife corridors, offering a haven for our local fauna. Architects and urban planners in Orlando should adhere to ecological mindfulness, implementing strategies that protect natural habitats while accommodating the city’s growth.

Join me in urging local government officials, developers, and urban planners in Orlando to halt massive constructions that threaten wildlife habitats. Encourage them to adopt and enforce regulations that prevent unnecessary destruction of forests and promote sustainable development practices that harmonize urban growth with nature.

Sign this petition today and become a part of the movement to safeguard our environment and protect the wildlife that makes Orlando unique. Together, we can foster a city that respects and values all of its inhabitants.
