Protect Employees From Unfair Notice Period Requirements

The Issue

I call upon your compassion and sense of justice for what I am currently experiencing within my existing organization. It is my belief that an employee should not be subjected to threats nor forced to serve a full notice period if they have clearly expressed their preference to pay off the remaining portion. Despite trying to exercise this option, I have been greeted with threats and intimidation, burying me deeper into a bog of distress and anxiety. This, coupled with withheld salary, is causing intense harm to my mental wellbeing.

I am certainly not the first employee to endure such experiences, which are sadly commonplace as per statistics: a Workplace Bullying Institute study in 2019 found that 64.3% of workers have reported being subjected to threats or actual bullying. An Employee Rights Advocacy Institute For Law & Policy report also highlighted that over 50% of workers have had their wages withheld at some point.

These figures underline a widespread issue in workplaces: the abuse of power and disregard for employees' rights. Therefore, the petition seeks to promote the notion of a fair workplace where intimidation and threats are neither tolerated nor used as weapons against workers.

Let us create an equitable environment for all employees, and ensure that our workplaces operate with legal requirements, ethical values, and mutual respect.
