Hey all --
We're still moving forward with the petition and collaborating with local city council members. I turned in talking points to help the office of Caity Maple and Phil Pluckebaum to add this to the legislative session's agenda and work to remove the law.
CrockerCon is around the corner -- this Sunday in fact! -- and I was interviewed by both CapRadio's Insight with Vicki Gonzalez and the new Cultural Capital newsletter from PBSKVIE's Abridged journalism project.
You can listen to the Insight segment here
You can see the Abridged interview here and discover some other wonderful events and things to do in Sacramento this weekend.
I also touched briefly on this topic via the podcast, 4 Tales Podcast -- which was also an amazing show on comic book creators.
Thank you all for the continued support and spreading the petition. The swift momentum of support has opened up the door to defeat this law and I continue to work at it. My hope is I'll have some answers soon when we mobilize to speak up in support of overturning this law at City Council meeting soon.
My concern is that the news we're witnessing nationally in this moment further raises the alarm that old laws like these could come back into prominence and harm those who speak up bravely. This is not a moment to shrink -- it is a moment to stand firm and continue to do the work.
I've always been proud to make comics and be part of the community because there is virtually no better medium to show people stories of being brave against impossible odds and villainy -- and in so many ways -- those stories echo with the real world and give us optimism and hope even when times are dark.
Enjoy your weekend and hope we see you at CrockerCon and other comic celebrations in the area!
Thank you for your time and continued support.
