Protect Coindre Hall Park & designate it as a Passive Park & Nature Preserve

Protect Coindre Hall Park & designate it as a Passive Park & Nature Preserve
The Issue
Coindre Hall Park is great for bird watchers and nature lovers. It is a peaceful, tranquil, and healing place. With a lack of an official clear designation, the environment is left unprotected. Approx. 1 acre of wetlands and woodlands and approx. 100 trees have already been clear-cut as a result of a private and arbitrary decision! Currently, Coindre Hall Park is designated as a historic site however our beautiful Park requires the additional protection of a passive park and nature preserve.
A construction project has commenced at Coindre Hall Park & although the buildings are protected, the surrounding habitat & environment are NOT. Suffolk County parks department's literature has referred to Coindre Hall Park, as a passive park. Furthermore, Suffolk County's literature states that the designation of a nature preserve is appropriate for areas of wetlands in Suffolk County Parks. Environmental resources are fragile and finite and without our protection, they will cease to exist.
STOP the destruction of habitat and the removal of trees at Coindre Hall Park. Protect this local avian and watershed corridor by designating Coindre Hall Park as a Passive Park and Nature preserve, so we can encourage wise lands stewardship and pass this ecological gem on to the next generation.
