The Issue

Auron never stopped fighting.

AURON law

Every child deserves safety, stability, and the love of family.

Across the United States, grandparents and safe relatives are often willing and able to provide loving homes for children in times of crisis. Yet many families report facing significant procedural barriers, lack of transparency, and limited meaningful consideration in placement decisions.

This is not about weakening child protection systems.
This is about strengthening them.

When safe and appropriate relatives are available, their involvement should be clearly documented, fairly reviewed, and meaningfully considered before children experience prolonged separation.

Through community engagement and shared testimonies, consistent concerns have emerged:

Limited transparency in placement decisions
Inconsistent prioritization of kinship placement
Procedural barriers for grandparents and extended family
Prolonged separation despite willing relatives
While child welfare systems operate at the state level, federal standards and funding influence policy direction nationwide. Reform must address both accountability and child-centered decision making.

We respectfully call upon state legislators and members of Congress to:

Strengthen oversight and transparency in child welfare systems.
Prioritize safe kinship placement whenever appropriate.
Require clear documentation when relatives are bypassed.
Improve due process protections for extended family members.
Children deserve stability.
Grandparents deserve to be heard.
Families deserve fairness.

This petition is a call for balanced, accountable reform that protects children while ensuring that safe relatives are not overlooked.

Sign today to support national child welfare reform.
