Protect Center Tree in Coyote Run Local Park from Vandalism

The Issue

As someone who loves climbing trees with friends, family, and anyone else who shares a passion for nature, I can confidently say that this tree deserves to be protected. It's not just a tree—it’s a gathering spot, a symbol of community, and a source of joy for so many.

On Sunday, November 17th, I was spending time with my girlfriend at the local neighborhood park. We decided to climb the tree, something we’ve done countless times before. But this time was different. As we reached for the branches, we noticed something troubling—deep marks and scratches etched into the bark. The scars told a sad story of neglect and vandalism, and it hit us both hard.

That’s when we decided we’d had enough. This tree has given so much to us and our community, and now it’s our turn to give back. After returning home, we jumped on a call and poured our frustration and determination into action. Together, we created this petition with one goal in mind: to protect this tree from further harm.

We’re calling on the Homeowners Association to take immediate steps to designate this tree as a protected landmark, ensuring it remains a safe and cherished space for everyone in our neighborhood. Whether it’s through education, regular monitoring, or installing protective measures, we believe that something must be done—and soon.

This isn’t just about saving a tree. It’s about preserving the memories, laughter, and connections that take root every time someone climbs its branches. Let’s stand together to protect this irreplaceable part of our community.

Certainly! Here's how you can create a dedicated section for the emotional connection:

This tree isn’t just a part of the park—it’s a part of our lives. It holds countless memories for me, my friends, and my family. I remember the first time I climbed it as a kid, feeling a mix of excitement and accomplishment when I reached the highest branch I could manage. Over the years, it’s become a place where I’ve shared laughter, stories, and even quiet moments of reflection.

It’s not just me, either. This tree has seen kids gather for games of hide-and-seek, families come together for picnics in its shade, and friends spend hours sitting on its sturdy branches, enjoying each other’s company. Recently, it became even more special to me when I shared a wonderful day there with my girlfriend, laughing and climbing together like carefree kids.

This tree is more than bark and branches—it’s a witness to joy, connection, and community. Protecting it isn’t just about preserving nature; it’s about preserving a part of our shared history and ensuring that future generations can create their own memories here.
