Hi all!

Thank you so much for your support on this petition.

Updates:

1) The land manager wanted to clarify about the complaints that some people have made about them cutting down trees and burning them, as this is not the case:

There was an ash that had dye back.  Some of it is still in a clearing near the bottom entrance to the mound.
That clearing has always been there. It's the  remains of an existing old track. There was a lot of bramble cleared from that point through the middle of the hedge to see how far the track still exists.  It's that bramble that was burnt.
In previous years that clearing has been used to dispose of the willow branches when pruning the willows that we always keep low, to maintain the view of the Mound with the Tor behind it.

2) She also shared the following sign, which they have placed in the mound:

Somerset Council; South West Heritage Trust; Friends of Bride’s Mound, Somerset
Wildlife Trust; and with paths installed as part of the Robert Richard Initiative
This summer, new paths have been laid to enhance access to Bride’s Mound and
adjacent fields, ahead of planned ecological improvements. An easy-access route now
extends through the orchard to the site of St Brigid’s Chapel, carefully following the
mound’s natural topography to support inclusive and all-ability access.
At the top of the path, the route encircles the interpretation board.  This board will
be re-sited.
The scale of the hard standing at the top of the mound has caused concern since its
completion. Following feedback, all parties are now working together to remove the stone dust path on the top of Bride’s Mound and restore the surface.
This is a no dig path so will be easy for contractors to remove with no scarring to the
Mound.

3) There was a rally at Market Cross (Glastonbury) yesterday:
"Raising awareness about protecting our sacred lands here in Avalon, with the unexpected and absolute brilliant Mobius Loop playing, we danced and sang. Then a pilgrimage to Bridies Mound afterwards for ceremony ."
Thank you to everyone involved for your support.

4) Last but not least, we got hands-on the land to remove the Himalayan Balsam (which is choking our wildflowers).
We had 6 lovely volunteers do an amazing job, thank you SO much!

If you would like to keep supporting Bride's mound, the best way is indeed hands-on in the land.

There are volunteering opportunities available, for more info please email: friendsofbridesmound@yahoo.co.uk to get involved.

We are very grateful for Friends of Bride's Mound for their continuous work on the land, and for stepping in the negotiations with SWHT and SWT.

Remember to love thy neighbour, and to try and resolve things speaking from the Heart first and foremost. Even though a petition always helps, division and blowing things up is unnecessary.

There's a lot of misinformation around: remember to keep being discerning, keep in touch, and Love to all - even if you don't share opinion- we are ALL Glastonbury 💜

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
