I am a born and raised New Yorker and raising kids in Queens. We love it here.  We chose to live in our neighborhood because of its quiet charm, the privacy, and the beautiful music of birds in our garden. Our home is not merely an address, it is our retreat from the congested city life.

However, there's now a threat looming over our peace - the increasing instances of demolition of single dwelling homes and replacement with two or more structures. A beautiful home with a yard and even a well was bought, destroyed and replaced with three overwhelmingly big homes. This ruins the beauty of our area. If this continues, we risk losing the spacious charm of our neighborhood, potentially leading to overcrowded schools, scarce parking, and a displeasing vista with new constructions cramping the area. 

Our beautiful, spacious neighborhood adds a quality of life that cannot be replaced. This isn't just about aesthetics – increased population density has proven to have negative impacts on air quality, temperature, and even mental health.

We pay considerable amounts in property taxes, and it's in our right to maintain the spacious environment we have painstakingly invested in. This is not just about today, it's about preserving the serenity and ambiance of our neighborhood for future generations.

So, I urge you to support me in this fight. Let's request our local council to pass an ordinance against the demolition of our beloved single dwelling homes for replacement with multiple structures.
