The City won't accept our petition: What you can do

Dear Petition Signer,

Last September I started this petition to protect the Nine Mile Creek Corridor in Bloomington MN. Thank you for signing! Unfortunately, the City does not consider this an official petition. I hope you are willing to spend a few minutes taking extra action to protect the park.

We are asking those of you who live in the Twin Cities Metro Area in Minnesota to email decision makers about your concerns if you have not already done so. See below for details.

Reminder: The Issue

Bloomington MN received $20 million in funding to do restoration work in the unique natural area known as the Nine Mile Creek Corridor. However, the city is considering using part of that money to build paved and/or mountain bike trails through the park. This would be damaging to the environment of the park, and to its peaceful, serene atmosphere. Learn more at restorethenine.org.

Status

Bloomington is spending September working on their first high-level plans for the park. If bicycle trails are in those early plans, it will be difficult to get them removed.

Our Ask

Please write to decision makers to tell them to spend the funds on restoration and not on creating recreational opportunities for bicycles. If you aren’t sure what to write about, we have a web page with ideas for topics here.
