The Issue

Having been both a guest and a Shambhassador at Shambhala Music Festival, I’ve seen how much this role matters.
I learned the land so I could show up as someone people felt comfortable approaching, someone who could guide, support, and welcome others into what feels like home!
This role creates real connection, and that’s something you can’t replace.

Shambhassadors have been the heart of Shambhala! The silly, vibrant hosts of the festival, a trusted source of information for guests and crew, and a steady presence for guidance and support.
They are often the first friendly face someone meets, the person who answers your questions and helps when things feel overwhelming, the ones who carry the energy, values, and spirit that make Shambhala feel like home!!!

This role is grassroots at its core, built from within the community, by people who genuinely care about the experience of others. It’s not just a role its’s a reflection of what makes Shambhala different and unique.
In a festival landscape that is increasingly commercial, this kind of organic, community-led presence is rare. Shambhassadors don’t just participate in the culture, they help create and sustain it.
The decision to discontinue the Shambhassadors has left many in the community concerned. While festivals evolve, removing this role risks losing something deeply human and difficult to replace: real, peer-to-peer connection.

Why This Matters
Shambhassadors are more than volunteers—they are culture carriers:
• Grassroots Connection: Built by the community, for the community
• Welcoming Energy: Setting the tone for an open and inclusive space, especially to new comers, and we all know this farmily is growing!
• Guidance & Support: Helping attendees feel safe, seen, and supported. Be sure everyone knows what we offer, like The Sanctuary, Ankors, Woman's Safe Space, etc.
• Trusted Presence: Bridging the gap between guests and crew in a human way
Without them, something intangible but essential is lost.

Our Request
We ask the organizers of Shambhala Music Festival to:
• Reconsider the removal of the Shambhassadors, or
• Engage with the community to preserve and evolve this grassroots initiative in a sustainable way
