Hi Everyone

The campaign to save the green fields around Marsden Primary School has demonstrated to South Tyneside Council the depth of concern from the community.
These fields surround a primary school where children play, and are a sanctuary where wildlife (including endangered species such as Curlews) thrives, offering a green lung to counter the ever-increasing urbanisation.
The online petition has gathered over 1,750 signatures and is still open to sign. The paper copy in Whitburn Library has 59 signatures of people who are not confident with the internet.
On top of this 323 comments have been submitted to the council from local residents and members of the public who are concerned about this planning application.
I would like to give a massive thank you to all who have signed the petition and taken time to submit comments.
We now have to await the report and recommendations of the planning officers.
Will they give appropriate weight to the concerns of the community or will they agree to the destruction of our green spaces to make wealthy developers even richer?

Let us hope that local democracy is served and this application is denied.

Kind Regards

Steve Lavelle
