We, the parents, guardians, and community members of Abbotsford Traditional School (ATS), are deeply concerned about the proposed supportive housing development at 2270 Martens Street, located immediately beside ATS.

While we understand the need for supportive housing in Abbotsford, placing this project directly next to a Grade 6–12 school with over 800 students raises significant concerns about the safety, well-being, and learning environment of children and youth.

Our key concerns include:

The proximity to ATS, placing vulnerable students at risk.
The recent confirmation of a Safe Consumption Room on-site, which was not disclosed during the July 14th community session or on BC Housing’s official website.
The lack of transparency and consultation with families, PAC, and DPAC prior to moving this project forward.
The failure to properly consider alternative locations that may better balance the need for housing with the safety of school communities.
We believe families and the school community deserve:

Full transparency about the details of this project, including the services to be provided.
Meaningful opportunities for parents and community members to give input before any final decisions are made.
A serious review of alternative sites that would both meet housing needs and protect the learning environment of children.
We urge BC Housing, the City of Abbotsford, the Abbotsford School District, Abbotsford School Board and the Province of British Columbia to pause this project at the Martens Street location and work with the community to find a more suitable site.

Please sign and share this petition to ensure the voices of ATS families and our community are heard!!!!
