My July was insane - the roller coaster that preceded Leonard's potential evidentiary hearing (which did not happen, due to a pending forensics motion), a business trip, my son's first car and 17th birthday, and enrolling him into school for his senior year. Even with trying to lay low and rest in the month of August, I still could not miss numerous posts about the deplorable joke sent between Vincent, Alabama police officers, which made light of something as serious as slavery.
Recently, during a meeting in which I was trying to gain the support of a film production company for Leonard's case, why so many wrongful convictions and counts of criminal justice corruption stem from Alabama came up in conversation. I explained that the people who didn't stop the Tuskegee Study on Alabama's Black men until the 1970s are the people who raised the police officers, judges, and district attorneys of today.
Overwhelming evidence shows that Leonard was wrongfully convicted by the Mobile County Circuit Court and online information shows that five other men claim they were, as well. Please take a moment to share this petition and Leonard's story. Let's continue to hold Alabama's feet to the fire for their lack of regard for ALL human life.
