A huge thank you to everyone who came out Tuesday evening to the Saanich Hall Chambers!

Six Cordova Bay residents spoke at the Town Hall meeting regarding the proposed Aragon gravel pit development. Many more were prepared to speak but couldn’t due to time constraints. Still, with your strong presence, we sent a clear message to the Mayor, Councilors, and Planners: this development is simply too big for our community.

Our petition has now surpassed 2,000 signatures—but real people showing up in person always makes the biggest impact. If we weren’t on their radar last week, we certainly are now!

It was incredible to see so many familiar faces—friends, neighbors, and neighbors of neighbors. Your presence mattered. You showed up, and you delivered for our community!

Each speaker spoke with passion, conviction, and factual clarity. Everyone was respectful, composed, and even brought moments of humor to lighten the mood. It was powerful—and it was effective.

At one point, one of our Cordova Bay speakers urged Mayor Murdock and Council to provide Cordova Bay with meaningful, two-way consultation—similar to what has been already granted for the Quadra McKenzie Project. She then invited those in Chambers who'd also like the consultation process for Cordova Bay residents to quietly raise their hands.

About 90% of the room raised their hands.

That moment said it all.

It was a thoughtful, respectful, and impactful way to include those who couldn’t speak, while still honoring the decorum of Chambers—and making our community’s stance unmistakably clear.

Well done, Cordova Bay! You’ve made us proud. This is what a united community looks like.

Please also find the link below to that recently shared comprehensive review of Aragon’s Traffic Impact Assessment (TIA) that was sent to Saanich Mayor, Council, and Planners last week and titled - A citizen’s review of the Traffic Impact Assessment.

To recap, this review suggests a number of serious deficiencies and safety issues. The author of this report, an expert in data analysis, lists numerous deficiencies in the TIA and provides a summary of them on page 2 of his report.
