After years of struggle, I was accurately diagnosed with Periodic Paralysis, a rare physiological condition. My story is not unique. Current medical standards allow "functional" labels to overshadow rare diseases, hindering accurate diagnosis and treatment.

Medical overshadowing is a significant barrier to the proper diagnosis and treatment of patients with rare diseases.
