Proposal to Review the Future of the Formula 1 Miami GP

The Issue

This petition requests that the FIA and FOM re-evaluate the inclusion of the Miami International Autodrome in the Formula 1 World Championship. The race has become more of a spectacle than a sport, pricing many fans out and alienating many viewers. While they seek to expand their influence in the United States, the Grand Prix is increasingly prioritizing lifestyle over sporting achievements. The asphalt composition has historically led to a lack of grip off-line, hindering the wheel-to-wheel racing that defines the sport. The track has also lost the support of many locals due to disruptions of traffic patterns, noise, and increasing prices. Compared to the 2024 race, this year's Grand Prix saw a 29% decrease in viewers, with the 2024 race attracting 2.17 million spectators. This temporary track is also less sustainable than many other "Heritage" tracks, which are often under financial threat. The sustainability of the massive temporary infrastructure required for this race also poses challenges to F1's goal of becoming Net Zero by 2030. Those who sign this petition support removing this race from the Formula 1 grand prix schedule.
