*Proposal for a new design for the State of Hawaii flag*

*Proposal for a new design for the State of Hawaii flag*
La causa
In 1843, the Kingdom of Hawaii became a British protectorate, meaning that the United Kingdom provided military and diplomatic protection to Hawaii. During this period, Hawaii's flag included the Union Jack as recognition of the two countries' relationship.
Although the British protectorate ended in 1844, the Union Jack remained on Hawaii's flag as a symbol of the kingdom's history and connection to the United Kingdom.
hen Hawaii became a United Sates territory in 1900, the flag remained unchanged, including the Union Jack. Today, the Hawaiian flag is one of the few American state flags to include a foreign flag.
Therefore, I propose a redesign that is more consistent and representative of Hawaii. As you can see, the proposed flag is a vertical tricolor, blue, white and blue, in the central stripe, that is, the white one, there is a drawing of a hibiscus, the national flower of Hawaii, in addition, there are 8 stars in this white strip, which are arranged in a certain way to form the geographic map of Hawaii, why 8 stars? Simple, these represent the 8 main islands of Hawaii, Molokai, Maui, Oahu, Kauai, Niihau, Lanai, Kahoolawe and Hawaii. This design is more in line with Hawaii, since it
Geographical represetation:
By using the stars to form the map of Hawaii, the proposed design represents the shape and structure of the state, making it easily identifiable.
Symbolism of unity:
The 8 stars symbolize the unity and cohesion between the different Islands and communities of Hawaii.
Connection with history and culture:
Although it does not include the Union Jack, the design can be seen as a way to honor the history and culture of Hawaii by representing the shape and structure of the state in unique and creative ways. Also, the flag has the colors of the flag of the United Kingdom, although they are also the colors of the United States, which relates it even more to the U.S.A.
Colors:
As you can see, the flag has the colors, blue, white, red and yellow, each one symbolizes something different in the flags.
Blue:
The color blue in flags usually represents peace, serenity, stability, freedom, justice and loyalty. It can also symbolize the sea and the sky
White:
The color white on flags can symbolize peace, purity, unity, nobility, order and reconciliation. However, its meaning may vary depending on the context and the flag.
Red:
The color red in flags can symbolize blood, courage, strength, conflict, patriotic spirit, revolution, passion, daring, importance, energy, excitement, exuberance, boldness and love.
Yellow:
The color yellow in flags usually represents wealth, happiness, energy and the sun. It may also be related to mineral resources.
In summary, my proposal is to try to change the design of the state flag of Hawaii to something more representative of the archipelago, preserving some details of its original design, such as the colors, this time, giving a new meaning to these, in addition, relating the flag with the USA, through its colors.
Let us join our voices to create a new symbol of pride and unity for the state of Hawaii.
