This petition is not born of abstract injustice, but out of the real-life trauma and tragedy experienced by innocent individuals in the City of Montgomery, Alabama. Residents who, instead of being protected by the institutions put in place to ensure their well-being, have been subjected to horrifying crimes because of corruption at various levels. Some of these are within our judicial system and law enforcement, and others are among those whose duties were precisely to advocate for people in need.

Sadly, the city has evolved into a hub for heinous activities such as human and child sex trafficking. You’d be surprised if you came to the realization that you rub shoulders with these individuals on a daily basis.  This issue is severe and devastating yet goes unspoken, creating an atmosphere of silent dread and tacit acceptance, leaving victims hidden in plain sight, right in the heart of Montgomery.

Easiest way to find out if anyone you know is in the business of human/sex trafficking? Just ask whoever is in your circle and wait for their initial response. Were they hesitant even just a little? Did they try to laugh it off and change the subject? Did that person try to switch the blame? These are red flags you should watch out for.

Black Women, we are the most unprotected individuals on this planet. We are being targeted, attacked and mistreated by even people who are supposed to protect and serve us. This is also for every other woman from every ethnic background who has experienced injustice on account of your own local government if not then it’s definitely coming to a city near you. Corrupt government officials should not be tolerated and should not be allowed to use the law to commit crimes and cause catastrophic events in peoples lives.
