According to the The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the number of street children in The Philippines during 2022 was more than 246,000. However, only 4000 were supported or served by the Philippines Department of Social Welfare and Development Programme. 

        Poverty has become an increasingly difficult problem to manage in the Philippines, specifically in Parañaque. According to the World Health Organization, Parañaque City is one of the highly urbanized cities in the National Capital Region. However, In the shadows of the tall buildings are the unheard cries of the impoverished and the children who live in the street. Despite government efforts, there are still children left out in the streets who struggle to meet adequate needs. 

        With that, Project SMILE ( Simple and Meaningful Initiatives to help street children Live Enthusiastically ) aims to bring a smile on the faces of street children in Parañaque by conducting feeding programs, donation drives, and bringing school to the streets. This also aims to give children a chance to voice out and advocate for themselves and their rights.

        Helping and providing for all the street children in Parañaque will be a challenge but with your help, we can make it possible. By signing in this movement, you could help us make their life somewhat easier and enjoyable by providing food assistance and simple basic necessities like clothes, and nurture and develop their minds by bringing school to the streets.
