According to the 1967 Outer Space Treaty, which has been ratified by 110 countries including all major space-faring nations, celestial bodies such as the moon and asteroids are "the province of all mankind" and cannot be owned by any nation (source: United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs). However, this treaty does not explicitly address private ownership.

We must urge our lawmakers to create legislation that explicitly prohibits individuals or corporations from purchasing extraterrestrial land. This would ensure that space remains a shared resource for all humankind rather than becoming a commodity for the wealthy few.
