Hello, all.

Today, Wednesday, June 24th the Indianapolis Board of Public Works is meeting at 1:00 PM at the City County Building (Public Assembly Room) (200 E Washington St, Indianapolis, IN). They  will vote on an extension of the contract governing the use of Eagle Creek with Citizens Energy Group. There is an opportunity for public comment at this meeting.

Please attend today's meeting if you have flexibility and give public comment about this matter. 

This contract is very important as it gives Citizens Energy Group the authority to take water from Eagle Creel reservoir. Citizen Energy Group has announced they will be starting construction on their water main on Moore Road this month.  As stated by Protect Pike Township, why are they starting construction to increase water withdrawal prior to the data being collected about the reservoir?

Hopefully  today the Indianapolis Board of Public Works will extend the current City contract with Citizens Energy while the City conducts water studies on Eagle Creek. No contract should be negotiated until after these studies have been completed and the results have been shared with the public!

• Indianapolis must do everything in its power to protect its only city-owned drinking water reservoir. Over 21,000 people have called for the city to prohibit the use of Eagle Creek to supply water to the LEAP project. 
• Decisions regarding the use of Eagle Creek must be grounded in independent data and expertise. Not just data or statements provided by Citizens Energy Group.
• We ask the city and it's contracted expert to meaningfully engage residents and Eagle Creek experts in decisions moving forward.
• We call on the city to keep the stewardship of Eagle Creek at the forefront as a vital park, ecosystem, and recreational space in Indiana. The Reservoir has already been identified as impaired due to PCBs in fish tissue  by the EPA, and many farmers in the area have put in significant efforts to reduce phosphorus which leads to algea blooms. Let's make sure a long-term plan is created that guides the improvement and use of Eagle Creek moving forward.
