Not only was this act in terribly poor taste, it further disseminates the detestable ideologies that resulted in the genocide of millions during the Holocaust.

According to the International Holocaust Remembrance Association, in 2018, 35% of people globally, when surveyed, were unfamiliar with the Holocaust or believed that the extent of its horrors were exaggerated. This reflects a deeply concerning trend of growing ignorance and denial of this atrocity, which is bad enough without inflaming it by such ignorant public displays.

Nazi salutes are more than just an offensive act - they are a symbol of hate and bigotry, representing an ideology that led to the systematic slaughter of six million Jews in the Holocaust. They have no place in our society, especially not in the public eye where they can influence and poison the minds of impressionable individuals.

Therefore, we are advocating for the prohibition of Nazi salutes and punitive measures for those who use them in public, especially influential individuals who should know better. It is an action that communicates intolerance, discrimination, and a lack of respect for the lives irreversibly damaged and lost due to the horrors of the Holocaust.
