Prohibit Government Officials from Stock Market Investments During Tenure

Prohibit Government Officials from Stock Market Investments During Tenure
The Issue
My name is Victor Martinez, a former United States Army Officer and a dedicated stock and options trader since 2017. I have experienced firsthand the stringent regulations imposed on individual traders by platforms like Robinhood, WeBull, E-Trade among others. These platforms require us to declare any affiliations with large companies or government-held positions. Yet it seems these rules do not apply to everyone.
I am deeply troubled by cases such as that of Representative Michael McCaul who was able to present federal bills restricting one company (ByteDance, TikTok) while investing in its competitor (Meta). This is not an isolated incident; it represents a systemic issue that needs urgent attention.
Government officials should be held to the same standards as ordinary citizens when it comes to financial investments. Their position of power should not be used for personal gain at the expense of market fairness and integrity.
We are calling for legislation that bans all members of government - including Congress members, the President, Governors etc., from investing in stocks, companies or start-ups during their entire tenure in office. This will ensure transparency and prevent potential conflicts of interest that can undermine public trust in our institutions.
Let's stand together for fairness and integrity in our financial markets! Sign this petition today!
