Prohibit Dynamic Ticket Pricing & Hidden Prices in Concerts And Events

The issue

I have personally felt the pressure and fear of missing out that dynamic ticket pricing instills for concert and event goers. This system takes advantage of those who do not fully understand it, manipulating them into impulsive purchases based on panic.

Dynamic ticket pricing indicates a shift in ticket prices in real time, based on the supply and demand. Essentially, the lower the availability of the tickets, typically the higher the pricing. This creates a rush where consumers, in fear of escalating prices or sellouts, are compelled to make hasty purchasing decisions.

Many other consumers feel the same pressure I do, it is not uncommon. Forbes reports that 63% of concert-goers struggle with high ticket prices. Moreover, the Future of Music Coalition’s study reveals that fans are increasingly frustrated with this opaque and unpredictable pricing model. Furthermore, as the Bank of Canada has noted, such pricing schemes can lead to unnecessary inflation spirals if the practice is not appropriately regulated.

We propose to ban dynamic ticket pricing for concerts and events to ensure transparency, fairness, and an stress-free experience for all music lovers. It is high time our voices were heard, and we made a change for the better. Please, sign this petition to stand against dynamic ticket pricing and support the common concert-goer.
