Dear Supporters Urgent action is needed to save a bushland that links Underwood Bush to Shenton Bushland. Over half of this 3.4 hectare bushland is set to be cleared as part of the hospital redevelopment site in Shenton Park. This outrageous decision has been approved by both the previous and current Ministers for Planning! Only the Premier can step in and save this bushland NOW. Please click on the link and sign the change.org petition asking the Premier to save this crucial bushland. Why is this bushland in Shenton Park so important? Together with Underwood Bush and Shenton Bushland it forms part of a regionally significant ecological corridor between Bold Park and world-renown Kings Park. Corridors are essential for allowing wildlife, particularly smaller birds, to move from place to place to feed, drink and nest. Corridors provide habitat for wildlife as well as a place of refuge when other bushlands are under stress from fire or disease. This bushland also provides critical feeding habitat for the ever diminishing endangered Carnaby’s Cockatoos. There are less than 10% of the original bushlands remaining in the Western Suburbs. According to several major government policies, all of these remaining bushlands and ecological corridors should be safeguarded and enhanced. The State Government and the Department of Planning will not tell us why they have ignored these policies. After repeatedly asking, they will not give their reasons as to why they won’t save this bushland in its entirety. Want to do more?
